Abu Dhabi City Profile - April 2009
Jones Lang LaSalle has recently released its latest Abu Dhabi City Profile which recognizes that:

  • Whilst Abu Dhabi has recently experienced a correction in real estate pricing and a slowdown in transactional volumes and construction activity this provides a ‘pause for breath’ that will ultimately be beneficial to the long term development of the city;
  • Abu Dhabi possesses many of the important attributes of global city competitiveness required for it to emerge as an increasingly influential world winning city over the next 20 years, including major infrastructure investment and the adoption of a clearly articulated land use planning vision (Plan 2030), transportation strategy and economic development strategy (Economic Vision 2030);
  • Key to achieving the long term success of the city will be its ability to realize the potential of this vision, along with the extent to which it can capitalize on the current correction to implement important improvements in transparency and adopt a new development paradigm that is less dependent on short term speculation and off plan sales.
